Art Club
Art Club is for fourth and fifth graders who want to enrich their art experience here at Centerville. We will make a variety of creative arts and crafts projects including ceramics, weaving, sculpture, and book making. This club is sponsored by Mrs. Burns.
Safety Patrol
Safety Patrol is a club for 5th grade students. The goal of the Safety Patrol is to improve safety during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Patrols are stationed around the school to help remind students of the Centerville rules. Members were selected for their courtesy, dependability, interest in helping others, and respect for others. This club is sponsored by Ms. Gomez.
Peer Leaders
Coordinated by Mrs. Osborn, this leadership opportunity is for 5th grade students that have been nominated by their 4th grade teacher the year before and/or recommended by their 5th grade teacher as students that show leadership abilities, compassion for younger students, sense of responsibility, dependability, and commitment.
Student Council
Centerville Student Council is a community service organization devoted to fund raising projects. Money raised through the sale of candy grams during the Christmas season and Valentine's Day and pencil sales has been used to purchase items or services that are needed at our school and that don't have funding otherwise. P.E., music, and art equipment, computer printer ribbons, basketball goals, the blacktop repaving, Care Team, and Relay for Life are just a few of the things that have been funded in past years. Student Council is comprised of 5th grade students and there are four officer positions and two classroom representatives per 5th grade classroom. The officers positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Historian. The election of this council provides students with an opportunity to be actively involved in our country's democratic process both as candidates and as those casting votes for potential leaders. Mr. Michael Gottselig is the Student Council Faculty Advisor.
Poetry Club
Poetry Club is an enrichment club for writers that are interested in developing their craft. We explore various forms of poetry and examine what writers do in order to demonstrate that craft in our own writing. We publish different poems throughout the year. It is for grades 2 and 3. Poetry Club is sponsored by Mrs. Nelson.
Running Club
Running club will start in January this year. It will meet twice a week (Dates to be determined). It is sponsored by Mr. Warhol. Running club is for any 4th or 5th grade students that enjoy jogging and exercising. During running club, students will have the opportunities to learn and participate in various types of aerobic exercise and mild strength training exercises. It is a great way to meet other students who enjoy jogging and exercising.
Chorus Club
The Centerville Chorus is comprised of fourth and fifth grade students. We meet weekly for rehearsels. We perform throughout the year for our school, our business partners and as part of cluster-wide events. Chorus is sponsored by Mrs. Benedict.
News Show
Centerville broadcasts a News Show every morning. The News Show is produced by a crew of seven 5th grade students. All interested 5th grade students are given a chance to participate in the news show during the school year. Each 5th grade student goes through a studio orientation and selects a job: either anchor, cameraman, sound technician or mixer board. Currently, all fifth grade students are given the opportunity to work in the studio for approximately one week during the school year. Each week one student from each class is selected based on behavior and class participation. Media Crew is sponsored by Kimberly Adcock (media specialist). Parents are welcome to come and observe the days their students are in the studio.
Yarn Club
This club is sponsored by Mrs. Trapnell.
