Student Council

Centerville Student Council is a community service organization devoted to fund raising projects. Money raised through the sale of candy grams during the Christmas season and Valentine's Day and pencil sales has been used to purchase items or services that are needed at our school and that don't have funding otherwise. P.E., music, and art equipment, computer printer ribbons, basketball goals, the blacktop repaving, Care Team, and Relay for Life are just a few of the things that have been funded in past years. Student Council is comprised of 5th grade students and there are four officer positions and two classroom representatives per 5th grade classroom. The officers positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Historian. The election of this council provides students with an opportunity to be actively involved in our country's democratic process both as candidates and as those casting votes for potential leaders. Mr. Michael Gottselig is the Student Council Faculty Advisor.

It is sponsored by Mrs. Nelson.

All interested 5th grade students are given a chance to participate in the news show during the school year. Each 5th grade student goes through a studio orientation and selects a job: either anchor, cameraman, sound technician or mixer board. Currently, all fifth grade students are given the opportunity to work in the studio for approximately one week during the school year. Each week one student from each class is selected based on behavior and class participation. Media Crew is sponsored by Kimberly Adcock (media specialist).
