Our Philosophy

The fifth grade teachers at Centerville Elementary School believe that all students are capable of learning. We are committed to providing our students with an opportunity to meet and/or exceed the county and state standards through effective and continuous planning, implementing, evaluating and reviewing of the curriculum, in an educational setting that is safe and conducive to learning.

  • Matter
    • 10 distinguish between physical changes and chemical changes
    • 10a demonstrate examples of physical changes by manipulating common household/classroom items (tearing or cutting paper/aluminum foil) and separating mixtures
    • 10b recognize that the changes in state of water (vapor/steam, liquid, ice) are due to temperature differences and are examples of a physical change
