Georgia Appleseed 
"It Takes a Parent"...and the Georgia PTA! In an effort that will benefit more parents across Georgia, 35 Georgia PTA leaders participated in a 'train-the-trainer' program on September 1, learning to facilitate Georgia Appleseed's acclaimed DVD workshop, "It Takes a Parent: Strengthening Effective Parent Involvement." 

The 40-minute DVD workshop educates parents on their rights and responsibilities under No Child Left Behind legislation and helps them effectively navigate the 'alphabet soup' array of assessment data to best benefit their child and school.

The PTA's participation greatly expands the capacity to train leaders for facilitated workshops across the state.The training was led by Julie Hollis, from the Parent Involvement Resource Center (PIRC), and Tom Roman, of Communities in Schools. 		 It Takes a Parent: Strengthening Effective Parent Involvement
