Welcome to the Parent Support Center

Dear Parents
Welcome to Centerville Elementary!! Centerville Elementary is a Title I School. This means we receive federal funds to provide additional resources to meet the needs of our students. One such resource is the Parent Center. As the Parent Coordinator, I would like to extend an invitation to you to visit the Parent Center to see what materials are available to help you support your child’s learning at home. The Parent Center is located in the first room to the right when entering from the school’s main entrance. In the Parent Center, we have a variety of resources for parents including reading and math games (board & folder), learning DVD’s LeapFrog Pads, Tag Readers, electronic devices, etc.
In addition to providing material resources, there will be parent workshops offered throughout the year. These workshops are meant to involve you in all aspects of your child’s education from understanding the curriculum to providing tools to promote your child’s academic success.

As the Parent Coordinator, I’d like to remind you that there are several other resources available to you in addition to what is currently available in the Parent Center here at Centerville.

Gwinnett County offers live on-line homework help for students in grades 4-12. Yes, real teachers, college professors and graduate students help with homework between the hours of 4:00 and 10:00 p.m. Simply visit the Gwinnett County main page at www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us and click on the Parents tab. Under the heading Learning Resources you will see “Live Homework Help”. Just click and follow the directions. All you need is your Gwinnett County Library Card barcode and pin number. The service is absolutely free.

Finding it difficult to help your child in math? Then make an appointment with one of our Centerville math coaches: Julie Nelson or Lori Bonn for a math refresher. Email them directly at: www.centervillees.com under Math Support or call the school at 770-972-2220.

Let's Talk Program

Parents,
The second session of “Let’s Talk” begins on January 24th at 8 different library branches in the Gwinnett County Library system. The Centerville branch is once again hosting this hour of casual conversation, but we are changing the time to Tuesday evenings, from 6:45 to 7:45pm. As in the past, the purpose of the 10 week program is to provide an informal setting for casual conversation with others for whom English is not their first language.

I’ve attached both the English and the Spanish versions of our flyer for the program. We appreciate your past assistance, and hope that you will again be able to help us ‘get the word out’ to those who would be interested in this program.  The good news is that each session of “Let’s Talk” has a unique theme, and participants are welcome to attend one or all. click on the links below for additional information about this program.
