Our Philosophy

Special areas include art, music and physical education.  The goal of special areas is to expose the students of Centerville to the core knowledge of each area.  The exposure helps students learn what areas they are interested in studying further in their education.  The students are exposed to a wide variety of elements, skills, and knowledge that they will see and use in the world.  Classes meet for one week, about every six weeks.  Each class is 45 minutes long.  Daily grades are assigned for participation, effort, and conduct.  Grades of E (excellent), S (satisfactory), N (needs improvement), and U (unsatisfactory) are reflected on each 9 week grading period.  Special areas teachers, when possible integrate what the students are learning in their classes with the special areas lesson plans.
