Technology Philosophy

At Centerville, we believe the use of technology is critical in the development of a productive twenty-first century citizen. We believe that the function of our school is to prepare our students to live in this technologically rich world. We believe this will be accomplished through:

  • Creative thinking, construction of knowledge, and the development of innovative products using technology
  • The use of digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively
  • Use of digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information
  • The use of critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage products, solve problems, and make informed decisions

ISTE Standards

Gwinnett County Standards

Technology is used in support of the AKS (Academic Knowledge and Skills) standards established by the county. Technology is used to not only support understanding of the core content, but to also create flexible thinking, creative thinking, depth of knowledge, and authenticity.

What's new to Centerville Technology?

    Teacher Web Sites

Parent communication just got easier! This year at Centerville, several classroom teachers will create and maintain their own class web site. Check your child's web site for information on class schedules, upcoming events, curriculum updates, and more!

    Distance Learning

During the 2009-2010 school year, our school purchased equipment that allows our students to participate in distance learning experiences. Each child will get to participate in distance learning field trips without ever leaving Centerville. Last year, we visited NASA, the Smithsonian, the Fort Worth Science Museum, and more! We look forward to visiting more locations in the 2010-2011 school year. In addition to learning from experts, our distance learning equipment allows our students to collaborate with other students from around the world. Centerville students worked on projects with students from Canada, Texas, Wyoming, Pennsylvania to name a few.
